That brand-new Sundance®️ Spa from Great Bay Spa & Sauna may be luxurious and relaxing, but it won’t stay that way unless you take good care of it. Don’t worry: hot tub maintenance isn’t the most complicated process in the world. There are just a few things you’ll need to get the hang of before you can consider yourself an expert on the subject.
To help you get there, we’ve compiled this quick how-to guide for keeping your hot tub as luxurious and relaxing as the day you got it.
Yes, it’s important to keep up with your hot tub water care each time you use it. All you need to do is add a capful of shock and a teaspoon of chlorine sanitizer, then run the jets for 20 minutes with the spa cover open. With this routine, your water is sure to stay clean and clear.
In order to keep your pH levels balanced, you should check your water with test strips once a week, even if you haven’t used your tub.
If the levels are where you want them to be, then you don’t have to do anything else. If the levels are off, take the necessary steps to get them balanced again.
When you’re not sure how to balance the pH levels, you can always bring a water sample or your used test strip to your local pool supply store. Someone there should be able to help you.
Over the course of four or five weeks, your filters will likely start to develop some buildup, particularly if your hot tub has seen heavy use. That’s why you should check your filters once a month to make sure they’re still able to do their job.
If you find a significant amount of buildup on your filters, make sure to remove them and clear them out, or your hot tub water condition will decline rapidly.
You should drain and replace the water in your hot tub once every three to six months, depending on how much use your Sundance®️ Spa has been getting. You should also make sure to clean off your hot tub cover just as often.
Your MicroClean®️ filter should be fully replaced every three to four months, or possibly more, depending on usage.
Your CLEARRAY® UV-C bulb will last about a year, so be prepared to replace it. If you don’t, your hot tub may be running without its water purification system, and that can get ugly fast. Filters must also be replaced once every year or two.
Yes, proper hot tub maintenance requires a fair amount of thinking ahead! All Sundance®️ Spas come with a CLEARRAY® PRO3TECT™ Ozone System that must be replaced once every five years, so mark it in your calendar and be ready to speak with your dealer when the time comes around.
