Have you recently purchased a hot tub, or are you considering purchasing one soon? Well, as luxurious as having one of Great Bay’s Sundance® Spas in your backyard can be, installing these large tubs (that’s essentially what they are!) requires some preparation and work.

Don’t panic! As long as you prepare a checklist, it’ll go swimmingly. To help you, we’ve created a simple guide to all of your hot tub pre-installation requirements. And if you’d like some hot tub installation information specific to Sundance® Spas, check out this easy installation guide!

Create Room for the Installers

In order to get one of our Sundance® Spas onto your property safely, you’re going to need to clear a path for our installation crew. That includes verifying that all gateways and entrances are wide and tall enough for the hot tub to fit through before we arrive with the equipment.

Please also ensure that you remove any obstacles or obstructions that may hinder the delivery process. Keep an eye out for low-hanging branches and electrical wires, and of course, anything along the designated pathway. Also, make sure to let your installation team know if they’ll have to use any staircases so they can plan accordingly.

Consider the Foundation

What will your hot tub be sitting on? Whether it’s on your deck, gravel, grass, or in your home, make sure the foundation of your Sundance® Spa is level. It should also be strong and stable enough to sustain the weight of the hot tub and the people who will be enjoying it.

Choosing the wrong foundation may not only be a headache for you, but it can also be a danger to anyone who uses your hot tub. This is a very important step!

Make Sure You Can Meet the Electrical Requirements

Your Sundance® Spa will require its own dedicated electrical circuit, and that circuit must meet certain codes to be safe and legal. Ensure that you have the proper circuitry installed by a licensed electrician and that it has met inspection before your installation.

Be Aware of Municipal Codes

Depending on where you live, you may have to adhere to certain municipal codes for having a hot tub on your property. These codes are in place to ensure the safety of any small children. Most regulations order you to install fencing, steps, or a gate that can serve as a barrier between them and your hot tub.

You can reach out to your county or city for more details. If you’d like, you can also call a representative at Great Bay Spa & Sauna. We have all of the information you need regarding local codes, and we can help you ensure your installation is lawful.
